Allison Scollar is a New York-based consultant specializing in sustainable energy solutions. She guides developers and municipalities in reducing their environmental footprints. Previously a distinguished real estate attorney, she pivoted to nonprofit initiatives following an intense custody battle over her daughter, which became a significant chapter in her life. She is prominently involved with the RETI Center, aiding low-income areas in securing jobs within the green energy sector.
Early in her career, Allison was a partner at Gold Scollar Moshan in New York City, where she expertly handled a variety of real estate dealings for diverse clients, from individual property buyers to large financial institutions. Her legal acumen also benefitted the local art scene, where she supported artists and galleries with their leasing needs and legal challenges. Furthermore, she contributed to New York's cultural landscape by serving on the board of the Concert Artists Guild, which supports aspiring musicians.
Allison's life trajectory changed dramatically when she faced a challenging custody battle with her former partner, who unlawfully took their daughter, leading to a long and taxing legal fight. This ordeal highlighted significant issues within the legal system, particularly affecting the LGBTQ+ community and adoptive parents.
The custody battle concluded in 2012 with a court ruling in Allison's favor, affirming her as the more suitable guardian for her daughter, Harrison. However, this victory did not mark an end to her struggles; it ushered in further complications and accusations from her ex-partner, which continued to disrupt their lives.
In response to these challenges, Allison dedicated herself to advocacy and community enrichment. She has been influential in her work with the RETI Center, where she helps advance programs that promote sustainable development and environmental justice. She also advocates for women and writers through her PowerPlay NYC and Pen Parentis board roles.
Outside of her advocacy work, Allison leads an active personal life. She is an enthusiastic hiker who recently completed the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. She also engages in boxing, enjoys reading, and loves to cook. Her commitment to service is evident through her volunteer work with God's Love We Deliver, where she helps provide meals to the seriously ill.
Allison Scollar is preparing to share her story more broadly in her upcoming book, In Her Best Interests: How Family Court Destroyed Our Family (And How You Can Keep It From Destroying Yours), aimed at shedding light on the family court system and offering support to those facing similar legal battles.
